Maumelle, AR - The Maumelle Area Chamber of Commerce along with the City of Maumelle will be hosting a Town Hall Meeting on Tuesday, February 9, 2016 at 6:30 pm at the Jess Odom Community Center South Room located at 1100 Edgewood Drive in Maumelle.  The purpose of the meeting will be to hear a presentation given by Rock Region Metro regarding an important Ballot issue that will effect Maumelle and Central Arkansas.  Move Central Arkansas is a new public transportation service plan for Rock Region METRO.  The project goal was to develop a vision for Rock Region METRO that addresses service improvements and support central Arkansas’ economic development and efforts to provide a dynamic, desirable place to live, work and play. MOVE Central Arkansas focuses on three key areas: service expansion and improvements, comprehensive and consistent branding and exploring funding opportunities to support the former.

Interest in public transit has been growing, represented in central Arkansas by a 20 percent increase in Rock Region METRO ridership since 2009, with current ridership at almost 3 million passengers per year. Riders choose public transit for many reasons, including economic benefits, engaging in an environmentally friendly practice and seeking a better way to commute.
